Foster-Powell
A Southeast Neighborhood in Portland, Oregon
A Community of Energy and Diversity
Foster-Powell, affectionately called “FoPo” by locals, is a lively Southeast Portland neighborhood full of character and community pride. Its unique triangular shape, bordered by Foster Road, Powell Boulevard, and 82nd Avenue, gives it a distinct identity. The area has a rich history rooted in Portland’s early streetcar days, and today it thrives as a diverse, welcoming place to call home.
This neighborhood stands out for its mix of global influences, seen in its vibrant local businesses and dining spots. The Portland Mercado, a bustling hub for Latin American food, culture, and events, is a local favorite and a reflection of the neighborhood's inclusive spirit. Residents also enjoy nearby parks like Essex Park and Kern Park, offering play spaces, sports fields, and community gathering spots.
With a walkable layout, improved bike infrastructure, and strong community involvement, Foster-Powell has become one of Portland’s most accessible and affordable neighborhoods. It’s a place where small businesses thrive, neighbors connect, and the energy of the city feels alive but still grounded in its residential charm.
