From Sisters to the City
Nancy Finds Her Portland Place
Some folks dip a toe into Oregon life—Nancy dove right in.
Originally from California, Nancy made her way to the quiet, pine-scented town of Sisters, Oregon. She settled in, made a life, and loved the slower pace. But as time passed, the siren call of city life began to hum a little louder. One of her friends had recently moved to Portland and found a gem of a home with our help—and that’s how Nancy found her way to us.
From the start, Nancy had a crystal-clear vision. She wasn’t stuck on style—just soul. She was open to something on the newer side or something with old bones and a story to tell. Over a couple of weeks in June, she planned to come live in Portland and explore the possibilities. We made plans to tour condos with sleek finishes and houses that had stood for over a century. Each place with its own charm, and Nancy was watching for the one.
Then in May, a listing popped up that made her pause. A unique unit in the heart of the Richmond neighborhood, just off bustling Hawthorne Blvd. We previewed it and gave her our honest take: this one’s special. Nancy didn’t hesitate—she jumped in her car and was in Portland the next day.
And yes, it was special. The moment we stepped inside, it was clear. Lofty ceilings made the space feel grand, while the southern exposure flooded every room with natural light. There was a peacefulness in the air—a tranquil vibe you wouldn’t expect so close to the energy of Hawthorne. It was bright, soulful, and beautifully located. The kind of space that just feels right.
But, as often happens with standout homes, we weren’t the only ones who noticed. Offers came in. Emotions ran high. Nancy wrote a beautiful, competitive offer—but in the end, it wasn’t the one the sellers chose.
We pivoted and kept the momentum going. We explored more listings, including a charming century-old cutie near Belmont that almost swayed her. And then… on Nancy’s birthday, the call came.
The listing agent reached out—turns out the accepted buyers had a change of heart. Were we still interested?
Yes. Yes, we were.
It was a birthday surprise Nancy never saw coming—and a second chance we didn’t take for granted. We quickly got everything back in motion and navigated the usual condo complexities with a team of cooperative sellers and a great listing agent. There were little hurdles, but nothing we couldn’t cross together.
Now, Nancy has her city landing pad. A home that feels like her—full of possibility, tucked into one of Portland’s most beloved neighborhoods. Whether she’s enjoying quiet mornings or hitting up nearby shops and cafés, she’s living her best life. And we couldn’t be happier for her.
Nancy, congratulations! Welcome to Portland—again.
