Sylvan-Highlands Neighborhood Guide
Winding Roads, Panoramic Views, and Forest Park Access in Portland's West Hills
Sylvan-Highlands Has the Kind of Natural Surroundings That Make Ten Minutes From Downtown Feel Like a Different World
Sylvan-Highlands sits in Portland's West Hills where the tree cover is dense, the lots are spacious, and the roads wind in a way that makes the neighborhood feel genuinely removed from the city even though downtown Portland is ten minutes away by car. The housing stock ranges from grand estates with panoramic city views to mid-century modern homes tucked among towering conifers, with privacy and natural surroundings being the common thread across both.
Forest Park sits at the neighborhood's edge, one of the largest urban forests in the country with miles of trails that connect directly into the neighborhood. Washington Park is close as well, with the Oregon Zoo, the Portland Japanese Garden, the International Rose Test Garden, and Hoyt Arboretum all accessible without a long drive. Wildlife sightings on residential streets are common enough that deer and birds of prey are part of the neighborhood fabric rather than an occasional surprise.
Northwest Portland and Goose Hollow sit below the hill for dining and daily errands, and Cedar Hills and Beaverton are accessible via nearby highways for broader metro connections.
Sylvan-Highlands homes for sale attract buyers who want West Hills seclusion, direct trail access, and views that most of Southwest Portland cannot offer at any price point.
